In Vanity Fair’s October issue, Jennifer Lawrence speaks up about her photos that were hacked and exploited on the internet. I find her courage to be empowering as she fearlessly stands up for herself and does not allow people to victimize her. I’ve always loved Jennifer Lawrence for her personality and quirkiness, but after this I respect her and look up to her. Instead of asking for other’s sympathy she spoke up about the wrongs that were done to her and how they were immoral. I find it disgusting that people would steal something so personal and exploit them for a profit without even taking into consideration the damage it can do to that person.
Here are the parts of the interview that stood out to me:
“It is not a scandal. It is a sex crime,” she tells Kashner. “It is a sexual violation. It’s disgusting. The law needs to be changed, and we need to change. That’s why these Web sites are responsible. Just the fact that somebody can be sexually exploited and violated, and the first thought that crosses somebody’s mind is to make a profit from it. It’s so beyond me. I just can’t imagine being that detached from humanity. I can’t imagine being that thoughtless and careless and so empty inside.”
“Just because I’m a public figure, just because I’m an actress, does not mean that I asked for this,” she says. “It does not mean that it comes with the territory. It’s my body, and it should be my choice, and the fact that it is not my choice is absolutely disgusting. I can’t believe that we even live in that kind of world.”
I recently ran to MAC because I running dangerously low on my lipstick supply, which is basically an emergency for any girl who can leave the house without breakfast but will die if she doesn’t have her lipstick. Okay maybe that’s suppose to be other way around, but you get what I mean. I don’t know how but I managed to reach the bottom of all my favourite pink lipsticks, so it was time to restock and here are my first two restocking purchases:
“The perfect everyday pink”
Right: Girl About Town
“A bold bright pink that is great for a night out”
I felt like being a little edgy today so I thought I’d share an outfit that makes you feel like you run the streets. It features my favourite shirt at the current time. It reminds me of the song by M.I.A, Bad girls. The front of the shirt has the logo on the left side, below I showed just the back of the shirt.
Top – Brandy Melville
Pants – H&M
Scarf – H&M
Skull Bracelet – Aldo
Spike Bracelet – Forever
Ring – N/A
I hope this outfit inspires you and gets you to bring out your edgier side,
I love mixing different textures and thats why this is one of my favourite sweaters. It can be paired with a nice pair of jeans or even leather pants to create an extreme contrast. Plus, the pastel colour of this sweater gives it a nice vintage feel.
Sweater – Topshop
Jeans – Joe’s Jeans
Earrings – Lauren Conrad’s collection
Ring – N/A
I hope you all stay cozy as the weather changes! Snuggle up in your coziest sweater if its getting cold in your area and stay on cloud 9 because no one can bring you down.
I love bandanas but sometimes don’t know how to wear them, but I came across this shoot and thought I’d share it with you all. Bandanas can give a look an edgier feel or even a vintage look. They’re extremely versatile and can dramatically change a look if done right.
There is no one as inspiring and driven as Coco Chanel. She lived in a time where men ruled the world. A time where men even dressed women. Women were forced into corsets that strained the female body and forced them to live difficult lives as their bodies were forced into the shape that men found appropriate.
But, Coco Chanel had something else in mind. Her boyish body was not to be forced into a corset or thrown into restrictive clothing that limited a woman’s motion. She was not to be told what to do by a man.
Coco Chanel overcame her troubled childhood and built a fashion empire from nothing. Simplicity and elegance where the keys to her brand. She took ideas and concepts from multiple sources and emerged them into her style.
In honour of Mademoiselle Coco Chanel’s birthday here are a few of Chanel’s most memorable and revolutionary creations:
1. The Chanel Jacket
2. The Little Black Dress
3. The Stripped Shirt
4. The Quilted Chanel Bag
5. Chanel No 5 Perfume
“Fashion fades, only style remains the same.”
Remember to stick to your own style and create your own image. Your own style will always make you stand out while following trends will make you blend in. Don’t be afraid of trying something new. Coco Chanel was daring and took ideas from men’s clothing. When I can’t find a look I want in women’s clothing I sometimes turn to men’s clothes and mend the clothes a bit to fit my figure. People sometimes find this to be strange but it doesn’t effect me because they eventually start doing the same.
I’ve always had a fascination with jewelry that speaks for itself, the type of jewelry that normally is not seen on many. But when worn you know that all eyes are on you as you walk down the street. I love the feel it gives and the attitude it brings with it.
Here are some edgy statement jewelry pieces that can add drama to any simple outfit:
The Gold Choker
Alexandre Vaulthier Runway Beauty S/S 2012
Topshop Maximum High Neck Necklace
The Skeleton Hand Piece
Delfina Delettrez Hand Bracelet
Wear these pieces with simple outfits and let the jewelry do the talking. Don’t be afraid to stand out.
